Structural House Moving

Move the whole house — in one piece.

Sometimes the smart move is literally moving the house: off a foundation past saving, back from an eroding shoreline, or to a better spot on the lot. We put the home on steel and relocate it intact, then set it on its new foundation.

When moving beats rebuilding

A sound house is worth saving — even if the spot isn't.

When the structure is good but the ground under it isn't — a failed foundation, an eroding bank, a lot layout that no longer works — relocating the home can beat tearing it down and starting over. You keep the house you know and put it somewhere it can last.

Every move starts with a plan: how the house comes up onto steel, the route it travels, and the foundation waiting at the other end. We lift it as one unit, move it, and set it down secured and level.

  • The foundation has failed beyond repair
  • The shoreline or bank is eroding toward the house
  • You want the home in a different spot on the lot
  • A sound or historic home is worth relocating

House-moving questions

Can any house be moved?
Most wood-frame homes can be moved, and many masonry ones as well. What decides it is the structure's condition, its size, and the route out to the new spot. We assess all three before recommending a move, and sometimes a lift or new foundation is the better call.
How far can you move a house?
We handle moves on the lot and short relocations to a new site. A move down the road involves the route, overhead lines, and permits, so distance is planned case by case. The assessment tells us what's practical for your home and destination.
What happens to utilities during a move?
Utilities are disconnected before the house leaves its foundation and reconnected once it's set and secured at the destination. The home isn't occupiable during the move, similar to an elevation project.
